The Boy will wake up tomorrow to see his first blazer. It’s a bargain, a classic two-button, double-vented navy affair with brass buttons.
The blazer gets a bad press in this country, but for me it’s more elegant, intellectual East Coast American prep than braying Islingtonian-via-public-school metropolitan plonker.
And, for me, it has lots of good connotations for a young man: team sports, smart casual weekend dress, musical ensemble, self respect, pressed and well worn khakis.
Plus it’s like his Dad’s, and he’s been asking for one. Love that!
