It was the superb Joe Ferraro, a gentleman I know but who I’ve never met, who first put me on to this. Writing as Guiseppe Timore on the great and much missed blog An Affordable Wardrobe, Joe’s descriptions of East coast, Italian-American family life are there to be savoured. He’s about my age, with similar food and style likings. In one post he discussed a weekend tradition at one of his favourite eateries, with Italian fast food washed down with a mug of cold red wine. Having only finished half the bottle last night, I’m easing through a Sunday afternoon with the family and a glass of chilled.
Unbeatable. The critics may sniff, but a great rough red after a night in the fridge is the perfect sunny drink.
